Huzzah! Knocked Out Some Overdue Portfolio Edits

I was hung up on categories; specifically, the right code for a single template to generate dynamic category pages based on whatever category link the user clicks. It was way more complicated in my head than the actual solution was. Turns out, I’d had the right code there pretty much the whole time. The issue…Continue reading »

Dynamic Category Page That Shows Posts From the Current Category

HOW IS THIS SO DIFFICULT TO FIND!?
It’s like the most basic functionality of a WordPress category page, but all I keep finding is “never ever use query_posts!” and “use WP_Query” and a bunch of code to do extra crap I don’t need, or code that uses query_posts.

1) As…Continue reading »

More Planning, Less Work

I run into it time and time again: on my own projects but mostly in my current position. When there’s a great rush — an unexplained sense of urgency, for nothing more than urgency’s sake — planning takes a back seat to “Is it done?” (And that’s the more polite version. Usually it’s…Continue reading »
